Smart Cities of Tomorrow - The Need For An Eco-Smart Energy Town

· eco-smart energy tow

The need for an eco-smart energy town is becoming a need for today’s world. The global and its environmental condition require relief and improvement from the emission of hazardous substances that pollute and degrade our surrounding. From the lands and bodies of water to the atmosphere layer of the Earth. Our everyday use of appliances to the car that we drive contributed to the slow destruction of our world. In any case, large structures like factories have created and emitted so many substances like nitrogen, carbon dioxide and sulfur that even tend to create acid rain.

Pollution and climate change

Recently because of the global pandemic, we have witnessed a huge drop in carbon footprints. At about 2,500 million tons of carbon emissions were reduced according to Statista reports. But we still have a long way to go. We are pushing billions of tons (at about more than 30.5 billion tons per year and it is still increasing) of carbon mainly from fossil fuels which serve as the biggest factor. Apart from that, 7 million tonnes of solid waste was generated last year according to the National Environment Agency (NEA) report. Climate change has also been a hot seat for debates and discussions from politics to web board forums.

These greenhouse gases that we emit (compared to the naturally emitted ones) greatly contribute to the climate change that we are experiencing today. Greenhouse gases trap and retain heat which is a factor of climate change, they also tend to create smog that we sometimes even think of as ‘mist’.

Smart, eco-friendly towns and cities

Thinking about those statistics and not to mention other factors, we can conclude that our world needs an overhaul in providing a sustainable living. A solution that will greatly take part in adapting to climate change as well as contribute to making a sustainable change to the environment. That’s what drives smart, eco-friendly and energy-efficient homes and towns will be a forward foundation to large-scale sustainable development.

With the advent of our technology today, from computers to artificial intelligence, we can incorporate these aspects to create more efficiency and enhance the sustainability of our quality life. From the daily appliances that we use and vehicles that we drive, we can manage our energy consumption and lessen our carbon footprint in the process. Hence, the idea to push forward smart homes, towns and even cities of the future is slowly becoming a reality. A path that is needed to take and we are currently heading on to it.

These smart towns and cities hope to provide top quality life to its citizens including efficient transportation methods, access to clean energy, essential resources, and enhanced security. These are only one of the few things that smart settlements aim to achieve with the use of innovative technology and the integration of artificial intelligence to produce efficiency and generate sustainability.

Building a smart city for the future requires cooperation from broad organizations and investments by the government. Still, its impact on the environment and the lifestyle of every individual is hoping to bring massive change to optimise the way we live in our world and smartly use the way we use and consume the resources that are given to us.
